VP Riley on what makes Mortar Board unique

“The University of Washington’s oldest standing honor society has brought together seniors exemplifying scholarship, leadership, and service dating back as far as 1909. Today’s Mortar Board class is a diverse group of talented, kindhearted individuals that reflect the history of this esteemed society. My peers in Mortar Board are a constant source of inspiration to me. I am proud to count myself as a part of this group and the larger history of Mortar Board. When I transferred to UW as a junior, I didn’t have a strong sense of belonging. However, becoming an active member of Mortar Board has made me feel like an important member of the student body. It has given me an invaluable opportunity to improve my soft skills and leadership ability while allowing me to give back to the community.”

Riley Hume,
