Alden’s perspective on how Mortar Board connects today’s leaders

I feel that everyone in Mortar Board is doing very interesting and meaningful things with their time. The people I’m surrounded with are very successful, but also caring and empathetic, which is a quality that more of today’s leaders need. It’s humbling to be around so many driven young people that have so much energy for creating positive change. Although we don’t meet all that often, when we are around each other and doing service projects, we pick up right where we left off because the group is made up of creative problem solvers and runs as a very cohesive unit. I’m proud to work with all of the other students in Mortar Board. The service projects remind me how fortunate I am and help to make me understand the problems that other people have.
