VP Betz’ take on what makes Mortar Board unique

“Mortar Board differs from other honor societies because of the long history that our Tolo Chapter has on the UW campus. The Tolo Chapter of Mortar Board has been at the University of Washington for over 100 years, and began as a women’s only honor society at a time when women were not allowed to participate in many similar groups. Since then, Tolo Chapter has continued to dedicate itself to serving both the UW and its students. I was a recipient of a Mortar Board-sponsored scholarship as a Junior, and I am excited to continue the tradition of service, leadership, and scholarship as a Senior. My favorite memories with Mortar Board include our initiation ceremony, and overall getting to know my fellow Mortar Board members through meetings and activities.”
