Dear Student, Faculty, and Members of the Community,
My name is Kristy Kwon, and I am the 2017-2018 President of the University of Washington Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society, Tolo Chapter, one of the oldest and prestigious chapters on campus. I am very honored and excited to collaborate with the twenty-two members of our diverse class, as we seek to combine our various strengths and interests in a way to best promote service and scholarship in our community.
Mortar Board is an honor society that consists of more than 200 chapters across the United States, whose students are carefully selected on the basis of outstanding academic merit, volunteerism, and leadership. Originally established to better represent and protect the rights of the female student body, our chapter has gradually grown into one that serves all scholars, and which provides an avenue for continued learning, growth, and success—academically, civically, and professionally.
Throughout the year, we will create and lead projects to serve those in need, present inspiring faculty and/or community leaders, and develop lifelong friendships and skills in preparation of our career. In this way, the 2017-2018 UW Tolo Class strives to support our students and university to the best of our ability, and pass on our tradition and values to the next class of scholars.
We genuinely thank you for expressing your interest in Mortar Board, and hope to see you at our upcoming events or activities, or as a new member.
